After plowing through the first 7 cards of this series in almost no time, I finally stalled a bit with this installment for the Chariot, which is quite unchariot-like, actually. But it's not a race, and like this Major Arcana may suggest, the journey forward can have all kinds of distractions and pit stops along the way. I don't always see that as a bad thing and actually, something can be said for stopping and smelling the roses along the way. As long as we don't lose sight of the ultimate goal - and that really is the role of the Chariot - to keep your sights aligned with the path you've committed to.
Song: The Chauffeur
Artist: Duran Duran
I chose this song for a few reasons. First of all, it's not just my favourite Duran Duran song, but one of my favourite songs period. When I spent my life dancing away the nights at the club, this is the song I would always request (so now you also know I wasn't hitting up the conventional dance clubs). Secondly, the name of the song speaks to a mode of transportation and being a driver. The mood is a bit somber and the lyrics suggest some of the reversed energy of the Chariot, particularly around distraction and looking to the sides, rather than keeping sights straight. Maybe even a longing for someone or something pulling the heartstrings and making you want want to stray from the course.
So what do you think, does this one capture the energy and essence of The Chariot? Have a listen and let me know what you think. The Spotify playlist is below and I think now you officially have to scroll to get to this one!
