Awhile back, my friend was sharing her horoscope with me and in that forecast, it asked her this question: If you could be any other sun sign, which would you be? She didn't have a response, but when she flipped the tables on me, I answered swiftly and with certainty; “I would be a Scorpio”. I have a little bit of Scorpio in my chart, granted. Both my Jupiter and Saturn are in Scorpio - so, that's something, I guess. And my rationale isn't completely fleshed out but essentially, I think the sign is bad-ass and I'd like a little more edge in my profile - lol.
With that being said, please enjoy this playlist I’ve put together for Scorpio season. It’s mysterious, dark, sexy and…I hope you enjoy it! Have a listen after the cut or follow along in Spotify!Read More
It's Leo Season and the moon is going dark this Saturday (also in Leo) so to honour the energy, I've created a playlist to suit the vibe.
Also, I've decided next month I'll be revamping all playlists and relabeling them for the season, rather than to match a moon phase. It just makes the most sense for me, but for now, enjoy some Leo-esque tunes after the cut (or follow along in Spotify).Read More
When I first started this series (too damn long ago) there were some cards that I immediately knew how to associate. The Moon was one of those cards. I picked Running With The Wolves in the first week I conceived of this series and my mind hasn't been swayed away since.
Have a listen to the track or entire playlist after the cut!Read More
Okay so, it's been a month since I've made a post. In fact, my last post was a playlist like this to honour the new moon in Gemini. The reason for this is that the last month has been terribly (but also wonderfully) illuminating, and through that...illumination...I've had to uncomfortably examine some things including the type of content I have produced over the last few years and the direction I'd like to go. I hate hate hate making bold claims about where things are headed at the start of a journey - it's a progress killer. Everything will unfold organically and in time, but I'm approaching things slower and more mindfully.
Blah blah blah here is a playlist, after the cut, packed full of jams to honour this new (or dark) moon in Cancer. Please enjoy!Read More
The New Moon (or Dark Moon to be more precise) in Gemini occurs on the 13th and so I've compiled a group of songs that I felt captured the essence of that energy. Or more accurately, I put a bunch of songs together that I liked that I thought kind of fit the bill. I was going to try to be clever and do a full playlist of duos or featurings, but...whatever. Check it out after the cut!Read More
After the rubbly, dusty destruction of The Tower, The Star makes its appearance as a reminder that not all hope is lost. The song I've chosen is really beautiful to me. It has a bit of an air of sadness, or maybe it's just contemplation or this sense that even if something lacks meanings, it's still somehow valuable and real.
Anyway, this is coming at an opportune time for me because if there is one thing I need right now, it's to know that everything is going to be okay. If you stumble across this post, positive thoughts and vibes are much appreciated!Read More
The New Moon (or Dark Moon to be more precise) in Taurus is upon us. I've assembled this playlist with the theme of "sensual Earth" in mind. Don't ask me to define that further please. Enjoy after the cut!Read More
Wow it's been awhile since I've done one of these! I haven't given up on the series, I've just not put any real pressure on myself to do it at any set pace. This is a "when I feel like it" sorta thing! So here I am, feeling like jumping into the 17th installment of this series; The Tower.
I've picked what I guess might be one of my favourite Sinead O'Connor songs to represent the energy of this card. I've done that because the tower is both strong, but in its fall proves also rather fragile and I suppose that's the feeling that I get when I listen to this track. And, while I think this song is more about the fall out of a love affair rather than the overhaul of institution, the themes remain the same. It's destruction vs. rebirth and overlap and inevitable reckoning of the two.Read More
We are now at the 15th installment in this series and you know what that means? Only 63 cards left to go! Haha - that's so many...but I am somewhat determined to see it through. Even if it takes me until 2037.
Anyway, today we're having a listen to Temperance. This Arcana is all about the themes of moderation, balance and harmony. It speaks to the various lessons in our lives that play out over and over which tell us to not over- or under do anything. In order to achieve health of body, mind and spirit - we must act in moderation.Read More
This is now the 13th installment in this series and today we're tackling the ever suspended Hanged Man. While this card often depicts themes of stasis, restriction and delay, I've selected a track that I feel captures the visual and literal feel of the card - a moment of pause where possible death looms. It is in this moment you have the choice to see a situation from another perspective. Perhaps this perspective is forced by your position (being upside down), or having to face something difficult - a transition or deep change.
Death follows the Hanged Man in tarot and so their connection is undeniable. Whether it's actual death or simply the marked end of something, The Hanged Man is a moment of stillness before we embark on that next leg of the journey. What we see, feel, or think in that space is what I see reflected in this track, which is why I've selected it for this spot.Read More
I'm kinda pissed with myself for picking a Majical Cloudz song so early in this series. There are so many better tracks on this album, but what I love about this selection is the way in which it transitions the Arcana. There is this feeling of slipping from one state into another, entering an ether, being consumed or circling back to the start. None of that made sense, but The Wheel is kind of a messy place where everything can just coexist. Our past, present and future taken out of linear context where we're now given the opportunity to see things with perspective, go a different way, break free etc. So these circumstances that we find ourselves in (real or imaginary), are they a product of fate or fortune - or does it even matter?
I'm also kinda pissed that this band is no longer.Read More
Growing up, I listened to a lot of Genesis. A lot. This was (is?) my dad's favourite band and so it was just accepted that at any odd hour, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway may serve as some very normal background music whether eating dinner, entertaining guests or just hanging out. Now, members of Genesis also served up solo acts (Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel being the big ones) but Steve Hackett, who was their guitarist for a number of years, also ventured sideways while in the band and put out the album Voyage of the Acolyte which is entirely tarot inspired. In fact, every single track on that album is named after a tarot card (almost). So, I guess you can see where I'm going with this...Read More
