Soundtrack Through The Arcana - The Hierophant

We're now 6 cards in and I'm happy to say that today's entry didn't take much thought at all. In fact, this particular selection comes from one of my all time favourite bands, Depeche Mode. Do you know what song I'm talking about? It's basically their biggest hit so I'm sure this one isn't too difficult to put together if you're a fan or even if you're not. Anyway, if you want to find out what song I've chosen to represent The Hierophant, keep reading!

The Heirophant
Song: Personal Jesus
Artist: Depeche Mode
Album: Violator

I really dig the Zombie Tarot's interpretation of the Heirophant, depicted here as a classic TV set. It really makes the statement that our saviors and heroes don't necessarily have to be religious figures; they can be anyone who we hold up in high regard. Did you know that Personal Jesus isn't actually about Jesus at all? It was inspired by Elvis or more specifically, Priscilla Presley who referred to Elvis as her very own personal Jesus in a book she'd written called "Elvis and Me". Just knowing that makes this TV Heirophant that much more relevant for me.

Feeling unknown
And you’re all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I’ll make you a believer
Someone who cares
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who’s there
I will deliver
You know I’m a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith
Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal Jesus

As always, I've added the track to the playlist below so feel free to have a listen and follow along in Spotify to see new songs as they're added!

Until next time!
