The New Moon in Gemini was just a couple days ago, and Gemini also happens to correspond to The Lovers in the Major Arcana, so now seems an appropriate time to introduce our 7th segment of this series.
The Lovers is about love, passion and relationships (as the name implies), but it's also about larger issues surrounding morality, choices and dilemmas. Love songs are easy to come by, and I've selected one today, but it was important to chose something that also carried with it some of the essence of those deeper aspects. And while I think this track does beg for some consideration between the head and the. heart, it's also fantastically upbeat!
Song: Don't Take The Money
Album: Gone Now
I really dig the 80's vibe of this track. Jack Antonoff gave a lengthy explanation about the song and no surprise it's about his relationship with Lena Dunham. I won't speculate further because I'm sure I know nothing about that and I'd rather just look at this at lyrical/face value for the purpose of this exercise. To me, it's a love song, but there is this plea in it to make a choice; to value the heart over the head and to take a chance. Maybe to choose true love over some other less interested, less authentic option. I don't know - I'm not much of a romantic so work with me here!
