The wheel is a popular image in alchemical scripts. This one below is from the Burana Codex. The 4 figures represent different states, depending on their position - "I reign", "I reigned", "I have no kingdom" & "I shall reign". When we ride the surface of The Wheel, we are subject to nature's cycles - the highs and the lows of life. Perhaps the figure inside it represents a more impervious state? Also Note: The figure "who reigned" looks eerily similar to the figures falling from The Tower!
