The Star & The Moon

The Star & The Moon

Analysis:

  • In each image we see a central celestial form - a moon and a star.

  • In The Moon, we see an image of a face that shares a considerable resemblance to the figure in The Star, even in the way it looks to the left, glancing down with eyes closed.

  • There are animals in each image. In The Moon we see a dog, wolf, and crayfish. In The Star, we see a bird (ibis).

  • In each card, we see bodies of water that appear to be vibratory.

  • There are hills or peaks present in each landscape, along with a blue coloured, night-time sky.

  • In fact, the nature landscapes are very similar in each card. It looks as if you could walk from one right into the other.

  • The Star and The Moon follow each other chronologically in the deck. The Star is 17 and The Moon is 18.

  • The 3 animals in The Moon occupy a similar visual space to the figure in The Star. We speculate The Moon is a bit like an inverted triangle, while The Star is an upright triangle i.e. passive vs. active.

  • In The Star, we see 8 stars each with 8 points, making 64 points in total. This is an important number as it relates to the I Ching and our own DNA codons. In The Moon, there are 32 points on the moon. This is connected to the 32 paths on the Tree of Life but also, is exactly half of 64.

  • While not technically visible, each card speaks to states of consciousness. The Star relates to meditation while The Moon relates to sleep and dreaming.

  • What do YOU see???

Possible Interpretation:

These cards guide us through various forms of consciousness - whether that be the sleep state or meditation, these two in combination speak to what we may find where we traverse those planes. Whether it be our subconscious selves, our shadow, our higher selves or something else - these things we seek also seek us (as they say). How can you leverage your altered states in order to connect with these parts, bringing them to conscious awareness and thereby integration? The path to forward may not be clearly lit, and there may be bumps along the way. This is emphasized by the night sky, the path in The Moon, the mountains and the forms of light used. Notice there is no sun - just the moon and the stars to guide us. We need faith, hope, inspiration and also bravery in the face of this kind of journey!
