Awhile back, my friend was sharing her horoscope with me and in that forecast, it asked her this question: If you could be any other sun sign, which would you be? She didn't have a response, but when she flipped the tables on me, I answered swiftly and with certainty; “I would be a Scorpio”. I have a little bit of Scorpio in my chart, granted. Both my Jupiter and Saturn are in Scorpio - so, that's something, I guess. And my rationale isn't completely fleshed out but essentially, I think the sign is bad-ass and I'd like a little more edge in my profile - lol.
With that being said, please enjoy this playlist I’ve put together for Scorpio season. It’s mysterious, dark, sexy and…I hope you enjoy it! Have a listen after the cut or follow along in Spotify!Read More
When I first started this series (too damn long ago) there were some cards that I immediately knew how to associate. The Moon was one of those cards. I picked Running With The Wolves in the first week I conceived of this series and my mind hasn't been swayed away since.

After the rubbly, dusty destruction of The Tower, The Star makes its appearance as a reminder that not all hope is lost. The song I've chosen is really beautiful to me. It has a bit of an air of sadness, or maybe it's just contemplation or this sense that even if something lacks meanings, it's still somehow valuable and real.
Anyway, this is coming at an opportune time for me because if there is one thing I need right now, it's to know that everything is going to be okay. If you stumble across this post, positive thoughts and vibes are much appreciated!Read More
Wow it's been awhile since I've done one of these! I haven't given up on the series, I've just not put any real pressure on myself to do it at any set pace. This is a "when I feel like it" sorta thing! So here I am, feeling like jumping into the 17th installment of this series; The Tower.
I've picked what I guess might be one of my favourite Sinead O'Connor songs to represent the energy of this card. I've done that because the tower is both strong, but in its fall proves also rather fragile and I suppose that's the feeling that I get when I listen to this track. And, while I think this song is more about the fall out of a love affair rather than the overhaul of institution, the themes remain the same. It's destruction vs. rebirth and overlap and inevitable reckoning of the two.Read More
We are now at the 15th installment in this series and you know what that means? Only 63 cards left to go! Haha - that's so many...but I am somewhat determined to see it through. Even if it takes me until 2037.
Anyway, today we're having a listen to Temperance. This Arcana is all about the themes of moderation, balance and harmony. It speaks to the various lessons in our lives that play out over and over which tell us to not over- or under do anything. In order to achieve health of body, mind and spirit - we must act in moderation.Read More
We're deep in October now and with the seasons making their transition, trees changing colour, days getting shorter - it just seems to appropriate that we're arrived at Death in the context of this series.Read More
I'm kinda pissed with myself for picking a Majical Cloudz song so early in this series. There are so many better tracks on this album, but what I love about this selection is the way in which it transitions the Arcana. There is this feeling of slipping from one state into another, entering an ether, being consumed or circling back to the start. None of that made sense, but The Wheel is kind of a messy place where everything can just coexist. Our past, present and future taken out of linear context where we're now given the opportunity to see things with perspective, go a different way, break free etc. So these circumstances that we find ourselves in (real or imaginary), are they a product of fate or fortune - or does it even matter?
I'm also kinda pissed that this band is no longer.Read More
I've taken a nearly 1 month hiatus from this series, though it's not been intentional. It's more so been a matter of other things needing attention - though it's been on my mind and I've been thinking about this selection since the moment I wrapped up The Chariot. I challenged myself to find something a bit more, how shall I say it...extroverted? Loud and proud? But, the last few weeks have been terribly introspective and pensive and reflective and representative of the other side of the Strength coin; the quiet inner rising.Read More
After plowing through the first 7 cards of this series in almost no time, I finally stalled a bit with this installment for the Chariot, which is quite unchariot-like, actually. But it's not a race, and like this Major Arcana may suggest, the journey forward can have all kinds of distractions and pit stops along the way. I don't always see that as a bad thing and actually, something can be said for stopping and smelling the roses along the way. As long as we don't lose sight of the ultimate goal - and that really is the role of the Chariot - to keep your sights aligned with the path you've committed to.Read More

When I originally wrote this post, the New Moon in Gemini had just occurred a couple days past, and so it was fitting at that time to introduce this 7th segment, as Gemini is the sign which occupies this arcana. I selected a song then, but the other day driving home I was reminded of another love song that I can't believe I didn't think of first.Read More
We're now 6 cards in and I'm happy to say that today's entry didn't take much thought at all. In fact, this particular selection comes from one of my all time favourite bands, Depeche Mode. Do you know what song I'm talking about? It's basically their biggest hit so I'm sure this one isn't too difficult to put together if you're a fan or even if you're not. Anyway, if you want to find out what song I've chosen to represent The Hierophant, keep reading!Read More
I waited until Mother's Day (HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!) to drop this one since The Empress is a bit like the quintessential mother figure of the tarot deck. For this track, I went back to an EP from 2001 called November by the duo Azure Ray. I discovered them around that same year, as they were (are?) a part of Saddle Creek records among some of our other indie/folk favourites of the era (think Bright Eyes).Read More
I think I'm a bit anxious/eager about this series because I’m already posting my next entry despite the fact that I feel like I should have a post in between these. But, sometimes my #tarotthursdaythree's run back to back and so, at the same time, when motivation and inspiration strikes, maybe I should just go with it, ya?
Being that this is post #2, we’re tackling The Magician. I thought The Fool was hard, but this had me even more racked for some reason. I think I’m thinking about it too much. I also think I’m trying too hard to create a soundtrack that flows in some ways, so that if someone were to listen to it as it were designed, as a set, it wouldn’t be too disjointed.
But these are my fanatic issues to sort though and as far is it concerns anyone else, I’m simply here to name songs that I feel, in some way, capture the energy and essence of each of the 78 cards.Read More
I've been mulling this one over for awhile, and though admittedly it's not an original idea, I really want to take a crack at/challenge myself to complete a soundtrack for all 78 cards of the tarot. Why? I love music, I love tarot and I love the way in which lyrics combined with melody can create layers of meaning and emotion in a way that other forms of expression cannot. I also think it would be a really interesting way to understand each card on a new level. So I hope this series will help those just starting out with tarot to build upon their current understanding of the cards. And I hope for those who have been doing this awhile, that it will at least be interesting and get you thinking about other songs that also capture the essence and energy of each card. It also gives me an opportunity to discover new music, which is something I used to devote hours, days and weeks too, but rarely find that dedicated time to anymore.Read More
