Meditation Package - The Lovers in D Natural

Background: The purpose of these meditations is to allow you space to connect with the 22 Major Arcana, which are, in many ways, separated aspects of ourselves. Each element of this project has been carefully considered, from the note selection to the length of the track to the written piece which accompanies it. The intention is to supply the user of the track with the musical essence of the Major Arcana in question to help them get in touch with their own inner archetype of that nature. We envision that one may use this as part of a regular meditative practice, to open up a card reading session, before or during ritual, or as a way to simply connect more with their deck.

Description for The Lovers: When we think of a lover, we often project an idealized version of another out into the world. However, The Lovers as an archetype is about connecting with our inner companion and levels of consciousness (sub, self, and super). In this way, The Lovers leads to synthesis, balance, and harmony as well as the ability to rightly discern what is best for us. This is in part why the sense of smell is attributed to this key. Sense and intuition are two sides of the same coin, with our physical senses representing our outward guidance system and our intuitive senses representing the inner guidance. The Lovers deals with the sense of smell, or, said another way, our ability to sniff out the truth in any situation and act accordingly. The Lovers can in this way put us back in touch with our genuine, authentic nature - the essence of who we are. Seeing through this lens will enlighten us as to the true essence of everything else as well. Mark Twain said “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it”, and in this vein, The Lovers represents the fragrance of who we really are, a scent that is above words and speaks thoroughly for itself.

Reflect on the following passage below, designed to further set the stage before you begin.

Threefold is our power,
But we act as One;

In the Garden we make our abode,
But in Man we build our Kingdom...

"As it is Above, so
Shall it be Below"

But what of the 'in between?'

For there can be
Neither Height nor Depth
Without that which binds them —

&, in its binding,
Severs them in Two.

The Sword of Perception —

It can Unite or Divide,
But it must be kept
Polished & sharpened

If it is to cut through illusion
& rend the veil of the senses;

The Garden of Paradise, or
The Garden of Earthly Delights?

No matter which you choose,
It remains bound to the other,
For they are one and the same;

To the Pure, all things are Pure —
'Tis the Wicked who created Shame;
Only the Light of Higher Knowledge
Can dissolve it within its flame.
